World Series Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extended clash that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total over 50 million spectators in the US, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB reported this is the most-watched Fall Classic finale since the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase over the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest started at 9 PM local time, it drew 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership reached over 16 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M viewers, an 8% rise over last year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
